We go to there from Singapore, then Shanghai and finally to South Korea, Icheon is the name of the Airport in Seoul. From singapore to Shanghai it takes about 5 hours (if i’m not mistaken). and from Shanghai to Seoul, take about 1-2 Hour flights.


my first though arrived in seoul South Korea: “It’s like Singapore but in a different ways because it got plenty of space to built more building. And beginning to steal a glance on korean girls :p.

First stop we make our way to get lunch, and the menu is Ginseng Chicken. Teh taste? well,, our tounge is totally different from korean people, the chicken is somewhat bitter, they used like kimchi, mushroom, cabbage, mustard, etc to add the flavor for the main food. For example kimchis for adding spicy taste.

At night we go to the main shopping centre called Dongdaemun, there, we can buy lots of fashion things, for a cheap and reasonable price, most items in korea is expensive though. Their currency 1 won is about 8 rupiah, so if the price of a shirt is 5.000 won, than in rupiah is Rp40.000.

At full power with the standar reflector (8,25 inch) i get settings at ISO 50 and f/22! :O, i think i over power it, the rock looks dark.

After the first try i decided to bring a friend to get the jobs done, and i'm glad i did. My friend as an assistant to handhold the FreeLite A Head(I purchase the A Head because it has more Speed Flash than the S, but i read on POTN forum that the S is last longer than the A, i'm not confirm about this one).

The Ranger mounted on Westcott Apollo 28inch softbox, this monsterous power light become softer, this is the shots at Batam View.

You Think the Ranger is Powerfull to overpower the sun at FullPower with a big softbox? You're wrong, i tried this shot below:

The above shots i darken the sky and brighten the model face, i think at least i needed 2 stops more, that means a 4400Ws!? well not exactly though, the light head is slightly not in the frame of my shot. the lighthead needs farther away coz i'm using my fish eye lens, that i'm not often used. and this is not big problem for me. vs on the first shot that i'm not using any diffuse light i get @ f/22 on ISO 50! remember that hard light great on man, and soft light is great on women.

oh and btw i used only 1 light for all this shots. at the beach, more light means more assistant :/

For this part one, i don't have the setup image, hopefully for the part2 i will include it, thats next week btw, well bye for now,. any question regarding the Elinchrom Ranger RX Speed AS is welcome on the comments below,.. thx,.

Okey, pertama kita langsung ke arah Tanjung Pinggir, setelah melihat lokasi yang pas, langusng ke tkp, lokasi yang mau diambil jauh ke dalam, dan air sudah mau pasang, (waktu itu lg surut). Awal2nya sih merasa ragu, tapi karena modelnya berani, kita langsung berangkat, dan dibuka senjata masing, and ini hasilnya.

Ada lagi beberapa foto yg ok, tp mungkin dua itu sebagai gambarannya, foto di atas saya gunakan lensa 85LmkII dgn bukaan varias antara f/1.2-f/2.2. Saya banyak arahkan low angle karena memang cuaca masih terlalu terang untuk mendapatkan exposure yang baik utk BG sekalian sang model. Saat air sudah pasang, kita bergerak ke tempat yg lebih aman.

Masih menggunakan lensa yang sama, tetapi dengan bukaan yg lebih besar yakni f/1.4. Saat cahaya sudah redup (sore hari), itulah saat yg sangat tepat utk motret, karena cahaya sangat halus pada saat itu, saya mengganti ke lensa tele agar lebih fokus ke model.

Okey, sekarang cahaya sudah sangat minim, pertama saya mencoba menggunakan lensa fish eye, tetapi hasilnya kurang memuaskan, gak habis pikir ganti ke yg lebih wide dan bukaan terbesar f/1.4 yakni 35L, dan dibantu 2 flash, inilah hasil terakhir dari sang model.

Ada beberapa shot yg sama, tetapi saya melakukan kesalahan lupa bilang ke model kalo tdk boleh tangan ke arah atas karena akan menghalangi flash yg datang kewajahnya, ini shot pertama, dan yg paling mendingan dari shot2 selanjutnya, well it happens,..

Okey, model sudah masuk angin dan seperti pengen dikerok langsung sampai dirumah, kita sudahi saja pemotretan tapi foto keluarga tidak dilupakan

Day 1

This journey coz my friend zandy and disty invite me to join fkg’ers group to “Pulau Seribu”, tidung island exactly, the boat begin at 07:00 and 13:00 o’clock everyday at Muara Angke – Jakarta. The alternative way is by Ancol marina, dunno bout the cost but i bet it’s much more expensive than in Muara Angke. I began take travel from Bandung to Jakarta using City Trans, and prepare at 03:00 from Zandy’s house. With a taxi to Disty and finally to Sandy’s house, there we go to Muara Angke by car.

Look at those people!, we got at the harbour (well it’s not exactly like a harbour to me though, the place it’s located at North of Jakarta where many people buy the fish there. So.. so.. dirty and awfully smelly, (what do you expect for a “pasar” like) well, we waited for a half an hour there, and got in to the boat at 07:10. The boat start to move at 08:00.

The journey on the boat? well, it’s devastating, you get lucky if the wave it’s not that big, for my first journey to tidung island it’s rather a big one. If you easy to get a seasick, i recommend take an antimo for the trip. it takes 2 hour to get to Tidung Island, the boat speed is approximately at 20Km/h (thanks to Zandy GPS), and it’s about 40Km long from Muara Angke.

Finally after 2 hours(at 10:00 o’clock) of full of wave and even water get into the boat (Falah get the wet for this). ohyes, if the wave IS big, you rather not sit near the window. if you don;’t want some salt water on to you. We got to the cottage about 10 minute from the harbor.  The cottage consist of 3 bedroom, 2 main room for watching TV and “kongkow”  and two bathroom. At 13:00 were getting ready for the main event on this trip, yup, snorkling time!.

There’s 2 island that we go for snorkling, that Air Island, and Payung Island. First we go to air island, from tidung tidung it’s about 1 hour to go there, and from air island to payung island is about 15minute.

* I’ll update the picture if it’s available, my DSLR can;t dive btw, haven’t got the case for doing underwater thing. But it’s sure is worth it if you do, i’m sure i’ll get it for the second journey.

before we get to tidung island again, we stop by to payung island first to get some snacks and rest for a moment. Eating mie and fresh coconut. about 30minute to Tidung island we stop by to the bridge about 5-6meters high, some people jump from the bridge, and 3 of the group that’s dita, arum and …(i forgot the last one). well i past, coz ithe water it’s rather cold at 17:30. we get back to the cottage about 18:00. and finally got a good night sleep, preparing for tomorrow activity.

Day 2

The second day came, at about 05:00 we go to the bridge again, this time we go there by bicycle, first i ride about 300meters from the cottage and see Falah who sit in the back, while Sandy ride it. at first it’s ok but after that sandy can’t control the ride and change by me instead. At first i think ” I Think this is gonna be sooo easy”, but after i ride it, it’s change everything, it’s rather hard to ride in rather dark place, but i got it. Think of it for a morning adrenalin fun, *nah… . about 10minute we finally got to the bridge, where the children and the tourist jump from the bridge. the Bridge itself is about 1Km long from Tidung Besar to Tidung Kecil. I use my fish eye to get a rather not usual shots from there, that create like earth picture. after a 3 hour of full walk, we got back to tidung besar and have a snack there, yes mie goreng again, and with Es Rumput Laut(Rp5.000) (if i’m not mistaken), i even buy Tidung Island cloth there (Rp40.000).

After i and falah in the back seat offcourse drove back to cootage but before that we stop by to arwana fish, and also to this beautiful called beach, it;’s so beautiful, perfect location for prewed :p. i remember the cloth i buy it’s stilll in the rest place where i drink the es rumput laut, i drove Falah back to the cottage first, and get my cloth back, after that i had sunburn, yeah my skin’s rather red.

Getting ready to go home at 01:00 the boat is almost full, it’s like people get deported from deserted island. this time i get to the middle of the boat, where the machine is place. It’s how i tell ya. but with the help of lifejackets for the floor it’s help alot. 2, this time the wave it’s not so big, and the group get a good sleep, well not all, dita jackpot on the way to muara angke.

2 Hours and finally get back to jakarta, and with travel i go home to Bandung, The End.
